Although he was raised in Illinois, Tim considers northern Michigan to be his home. He spent summer vacations in the Cheboygan area and has family roots in the area; his grandmother was born near the north end of Lake Leelanau.
His love of all types of music comes also has deep family roots. His mother was trained as a pianist and, according to family lore, his great-grandfather fiddled for barn dances in the region during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Tim has continued his family tradition and trained as a classical guitarist in college. He is a member of the musical trio Tone Soup, which has performed in several festivals and coffeehouses in Michigan.
As a music host and producer for Interlochen Public Radio, Tim happily surrounds himself with the beauty and sounds of the region.
