Peter Payette

As news director, Peter serves as editor for the other staff and hosts IPR call-in program including Points North. He also anchors national news magazines, reports from the field, announces the weather and assumes other responsibilities as needed. Peter is passionate about the medium of radio and hopes to offer an indispensable service for the region.

Peter studied English and religion at Hope College in Holland, Michigan and went on to take an internship at Maine Public Radio. He was raised in Flint and spent a lot of time on the south shore of Crystal Lake where his family was rooted for four generations. He lives in Traverse City and vacations on the other side of the county line. He has a wife named Sarah, two daughters, Isabelle (Belle) and Amelia (Millie) and a son, Emmet.
