The Traverse City Commission changed course slightly Tuesday in how they charge food trucks to do business in the city.

The daily fee for mobile food vendors inside the downtown district will be doubled September 15th as planned, to $100 dollars a day. But the commission reversed the planned rate hike for mobile vendors working outside of the downtown district. That fee will remain at $50 dollars a day.

The Commission will convene an ad hoc committee over the winter to make more permanent recommendations on regulations and fees for mobile food businesses.

Fees to operate food trucks vary widely across the country.
