Governor Rick Snyder told the automotive industry today that the most important task of the state is his “Talent Initiative.”

Speaking in Acme, Snyder said there are 80,000 manufacturing and skilled jobs in Michigan that have not been filled because workers don’t have the necessary skills.

The former Gateway executive says if those jobs were filled, it would bring the state’s unemployment rate down by two percentage points. The current unemployment rate is 8.6 percent.

Snyder unveiled his Talent Initiative last September.
