Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney says President Obama does not deserve credit for the resurgence of the auto industry and domestic manufacturing. Romney was in Lansing today to deliver a speech on the economy. He says the President has proposed big government solutions that have held back the recovery.

“The lessons of the last four years teach us a great deal about the next four years if we continue in the same direction with the same president. We must not. We must bring America back,” Romney told the crowd.

Romney says the President was late to embrace his idea of the managed bankruptcy of GM and Chrysler.

Democrats and the Obama campaign say Romney would not have helped the auto companies with government loans. The Obama campaign says the president deserves credit for helping to create millions of jobs and presiding over 26 months of economic growth.
