Four people from Vanderbilt, a town along I-75 north of Gaylord, were arrested for illegally killing a bull elk April 20th. Officials with the state Department of Natural Resources say the suspects range in age from 17 to 20.

Conservation officers say they confiscated firearms and the head of a bull elk when they arrested the suspects. They face fines of up to $4,000 dollars, loss of the firearms used in the incident, and loss of hunting privileges for up to three years.

DNR officers also continue to investigate the illegal killing of a cow elk that occurred on or around March 14 in Montmorency County. Officers don’t believe the two incidents are connected.
