The president of Northwestern Michigan College yesterday recommended a three percent increase in tuition for local students. Altogether a full-time student living in Grand Traverse County would pay another $60 or $70 of tuition a year. Students outside the district or the state would pay closer to $200 more for a full year of school.

That increase is similar to what NMC approved last year. And it is slightly less than tuition increases at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey and West Shore Community College near Ludington. In district students will pay about 5 percent more next year at West Shore and 4 percent more at North Central.
