This evening, officials in Boyne City will consider measures to reduce noise at a manufacturing plant in the city’s industrial park. A consultant’s report recommends how Kirtland Products might muffle it machinery.

Kirtland manufactures wood pellets as a source of fuel in wood burning stoves. Some nearby residents have complained that noise from the plant’s equipment is annoying and in some cases has disturbed their sleep.

The city spent nearly $15,000 dollars in April to hire Resource System Group to recommend ways to reduce noise at the plant.
