Opposition to biomass may stir up debate at a meeting in Benzie County tonight.

The supervisor of Frankfort says he's received a number of messages in the last 24 hours from people concerned about biomass, even though there is no proposal to build a plant anywhere near the city.

Biomass is mentioned in the draft master plan as a way Frankfort might meet its future energy needs.

The city supervisor says what has been discussed is a small plant that would provide electricity and hot water heat for people in Frankfort and possibly Elberta.

Last night a speaker in Traverse City blasted the idea of burning wood chips to make electricity.
