Public Schools in Boyne City and Harbor Springs have decided to close their doors for the rest of the week. Roughly 25 percent of students in both districts have had symptoms of the flu.

Schools in East Jordan were closed already today, and T-V 7 & 4 is also reporting a Manistee County district is closed, Onekama Consolidated Schools.

Schools assume students may be sick with the H1N1 virus, known as Swine flu. Health officials are working on getting vaccines into the schools, as soon as there is enough available. They say this epidemic poses a "novel challenge" to the region's healthcare system. But, despite attention given to some severe cases, the threat of terrible consequences is very low.
