Leelanau Peninsula vintners dominated this year's Michigan Wine and Spirits Competition, walking away with four-of-six Best-of-Class awards.

Winners included: Gills Pier, Bel Lago, Longview, and 45 North. A fifth award went to Traverse City winery Left Foot Charley, whose 2008 Pinot Blanc was named Best Dry White.

Vintners from Leelanau County also dominated the Double Gold Metal category.

Wines were judged by a 24-member panel last week, in East Lansing.
