Leelanau County is the healthiest in the state, according to a new report by the University of Wisconsin and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Foundation leaders say the rankings show that where we live influences our health.

Emmet and Grand Traverse counties also ranked in the top 10 this year. But even those three counties reported adult obesity and physical inactivity rates higher than a national benchmark.

State officials say those rates are also rising in Michigan.

Charlevoix County raked 14, Missaukee 19, and Cheboygan was 22nd.

Kalkaska and Lake counties were ranked among the bottom 10 counties for health outcomes in the state of Michigan.
