Trail Projects In Emmet & Leelanau Awarded Funds

Federal Transportation Enhancement grants will help pay for more improved trails in Northern Michigan.

The Leelanau County Road Commission will pave 6.5 miles of the TART trail with $470,079 dollars in funds announced today. TART will pay another $201,449 dollars for the project.

The Emmet County Road Commission will build 7 miles of trail from M-119 in Petoskey to Powers Road in Alanson with a federal grant of $941,969 dollars and additional state money. Part of the project will convert old railway to recreation trail.

The Federal grants were awarded by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
