The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says this year's Black Lake sturgeon harvest season was a success.

It didn't last long. Opening day was Saturday, February 4th. The first sturgeon was caught at about 9:30 that morning and 30 minutes later sirens went-off signaling the end of the season. Two sturgeon had been caught.

A total of 197 anglers tried for fish this year, a number down from more than 300 last year.
