From Staff Reports

Groups are still trying to halt construction of a controversial Upper Peninsula mine. They say they plan to file an appeal in state court.

Last month, a downstate judge affirmed the state's decision to issue a permit for the Kennecott Eagle Minerals copper and nickel mine in the Yellow Dog Plains.

Four groups are opposing the permit, including an Indian tribe and the National Wildlife Federation.
