Governor Rick Snyder will endorse a former rival in the race for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination.

Snyder is endorsing former Congressman Pete Hoekstra for a seat now held by Democrat Debbie Stabenow. Hoekstra ran against Snyder last year in the G.O.P. primary race for governor.

The endorsement pits Snyder against other Republican power brokers who back Clark Durant.
