After years of investigation and a battle for subpoenas that went all the way to the Michigan Supreme Court, there will be no criminal charges filed over Meijer Corporation's actions in Acme Township.

A prosecutor in Grand Rapids says a perjury case against a lawyer for Meijer Corporation is not strong enough. William Forsyth told the Grand Rapids Press he will not press charges.

The company has paid civil fines to the state for its secret roll in two elections in Acme Township. It's also settled with local officials who claimed Meijer bullied them over its plans to build a store east of Traverse City.

Meijer still hopes to build a store in Acme Township.
