Traverse City will be highlighted as a vacation destination in a five-minute in-flight video on all Delta Airlines flights for the month of June.
The video highlights area beaches and national lakeshore. It mentions cherry pie, wineries and food. It also highlights sponsors, including the Grand Traverse Report & Spa and Turtle Creek Casino.
The video's price tag: $37,000 dollars.
But the head of the Traverse City Area Convention & Visitors Bureau says it's worth it because, for 30 days, Traverse City will be seen by a captive audience of travelers with discretionary income.
Then, in July and August, Delta is adding more seats to fights headed into Cherry Capitol Airport. Local leaders hope that will bring down the cost of flights.
