From Staff Reports

Oil leaking from the motor of a tug is the source of a slick discovered earlier this month at the Cheboygan State Park beach.

The U.S. Coast Guard has cleaned up the oil spill on Duncan Bay, and it continues to investigate.

The oil has been linked to a 64-foot tug called the William Hoey. The tug has been moored long-term in Duncan Bay. The Cheboygan Daily Tribune last August called it one of the bay's "least desirable maritime attractions."
