Inman Will Not Run For Congress

By Tom Kramer

Grand Traverse County Board Chairman Larry Inman has decided against a run for the 1st Congressional District.

Inman says he was approached by Traverse City area republicans and encouraged to run against Republican Dan Benishek who will be seeking a second term this fall.

Inman says he made the decision not to run after hearing from voters throughout the district supporting Benishek's re-election. He also cites his current position as county board chairman and the recent loss of several family members as reasons for his decision.

Inman does plan on seeking another two year term on the Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners, and he's considering a bid for the 104th district state house seat in 2014.
