In Traverse City, the City Opera House wants to be managed by Lansing's Wharton Center.

Opera House leaders are asking the Downtown Development Authority to support the new plan. Until August of last year, the Opera House was managed by the DDA. Since then, there's been interest in having a professional company manage the Opera House.

But City Mayor Chris Bzdok  want to make sure no deal happens without public scrutiny. He wants the DDA to hear the proposal before it goes before the City Commission for approval. The historic venue is owned by the city.

Some local concert promoters worry their events would be sidelined by the Wharton's influence.

The Opera House's current managers meet with City Commissioners Monday.
