The Moxie Strings - Formerly String Cheese

By Brad Aspey

Diana Ladio, violinist, and Alison Lynn, cellist, formed the Moxie Strings in 2006 and they started out right away with a real departure from standard Celtic fare. One of the reasons is that they often play electric violin and cello.

The new thing for Celtic-rooted bands is to play the music influenced by rock, jazz and other music forms.

What band doesn't say that they play roots music but with flavors of other music forms, right?

But that's what comes with younger performers - they always change the music and adapt with the times.

The Moxie Strings play Saturday, February 11 at Short's Brewing Company in Bellaire.
