Brad's Picks

IPR has learned that downtown Traverse City was bombed over the weekend by a group of self-described "hookers" - knitters and crocheters with the Mom & Pop Club.

A Yarnbombing is when a group of people cover a city's trees, parking meters, fence posts, water fountains, etc. with colorful knit or crocheted designs. And this past Sunday, when the Traverse City Lip Dub was shot, this yarn art appeared all over the downtown area. Most of it was in the Jay Smith Walkway between the chocolate shop and the pizza parlor on Front Street. The Lip Dub took a swing through the walkway.

The hookers put all the work in place late Saturday night. And they didn't get permission.

Yarnbombing is catching on around the world. The first International Yarnbombing Day was June 11th, 2011.

I would just like to thank you for the mention in your programming. As an active member of the Hookers, I was a part of the Yarnbombing and the Lip Dub. It was wonderful and the reactions we received on our "artwork" was great!
